Our Treatments
At Dry Eye Solution, every treatment is part of a complete, evidence-based plan designed to address the underlying factors of Dry Eye and related conditions. Our approach goes beyond symptom relief to provide clarity, confidence, and genuine care at every stage.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Treatment
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is one of the most powerful and proven treatments for DRY EYE DISEASE, Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), and ocular rosacea.
The therapy was invented by Dr Rolando Toyos, the world-renowned ophthalmologist who co-developed the OptiLight IPL with Lumenis — the first and only device FDA-listed and TGA-approved for the treatment of Dry Eye Disease.
At Dry Eye Solution, our clinicians are personally trained by Dr Toyos in his original Toyos Protocols, the same methods used in leading Dry Eye centres across the United States. This connection places us at the forefront of Dry Eye innovation — offering care that is scientifically advanced, globally recognised, and exclusively available in Australia through Dry Eye Solution.
Unlike generic IPL devices used elsewhere, the OptiLight system delivers precision-controlled light pulses that reduce inflammation, clear blocked glands, and restore natural tear balance. The result: lasting comfort, clearer vision, and healthier eyes.
Invented by the pioneer.
Perfected by Dry Eye Solution.
The world’s benchmark in IPL Dry Eye care.
Meibomian Gland Expression
Your Meibomian glands produce the protective oil layer of your tears — essential for keeping eyes comfortable and preventing evaporation. When these glands become blocked, the tear film becomes unstable, leading to burning, grittiness, and dryness.
Our in-clinic Meibomian Gland Expression treatment gently releases trapped oils and restores natural gland function, providing long-lasting relief from Dry Eye symptoms.
This procedure is most effective when performed after IPL, which softens the oils and reduces inflammation, allowing for a deeper and more comfortable gland clearing.
Restore balance. Relieve discomfort. Protect your tears.
Amniotic Membrane Contact Lenses
For patients with moderate to severe DRY EYE DISEASE, or those experiencing corneal surface damage and pain, Amniotic Membrane Contact Lenses offer a breakthrough in regenerative ocular healing.
These sterile, biologically active lenses are placed gently on the eye to deliver natural growth factors and anti-inflammatory properties, supporting the regeneration of the corneal surface. They protect, soothe, and promote healing while restoring clarity and comfort.
At Dry Eye Solution, Amniotic Membrane lenses are used as part of our advanced ocular recovery program, carefully selected for patients with persistent inflammation, corneal neuralgia, or delayed healing.
Each treatment is guided by our clinical team’s expertise and supported by the latest diagnostic imaging to ensure optimal outcomes.
This is not just symptom relief — it’s true ocular restoration.
Regenerative science. Real healing. Remarkable comfort.
Ocular Rosacea Treatment
Ocular rosacea is a chronic inflammatory condition that affects both the skin and the eyes. It often causes redness, irritation, and a burning or gritty sensation around the eyelids — and is a leading contributor to DRY EYE DISEASE.
Our Lumenis OptiLight IPL treatments, combined with targeted anti-inflammatory therapies, calm and shrink abnormal blood vessels in the eyelids. This reduces redness, heat, and irritation while restoring a healthier tear film and more comfortable eyes.
By addressing the root cause of inflammation, IPL not only improves the appearance of rosacea but also reduces the frequency and severity of Dry Eye symptoms.
Soothe inflammation. Restore comfort. Reveal calm, clear eyes.
Demodex - Managing Demodex and Eyelid Health
Demodex mites are microscopic organisms that live in eyelash follicles and can cause itching, redness, and irritation around the eyelids. Left untreated, they can lead to Blepharitis, Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), and worsening DRY EYE DISEASE.
At Dry Eye Solution, we utilise advanced diagnostic imaging to identify Demodex-related inflammation early.
Our in-house medical team has access to an exclusive medical formulation created by Dr Rolando Toyos, the world-leading ophthalmologist who pioneered IPL for Dry Eye Disease.
This formulation is available only through Dry Eye Solution in Australia and is prescribed within our medically supervised care plans to help manage eyelid inflammation and support long-term ocular health.
Exclusive science. Calmer lids. Clearer eyes.
Acne & Scarring Treatment
Our Lumenis OptiLight IPL treatments do more than treat the eyes — they also promote healthier skin. IPL helps reduce inflammation, target acne-causing bacteria, and minimise post-acne scarring, leaving skin clearer and more balanced.
What’s the Connection Between Acne and DRY EYE DISEASE?
DRY EYE DISEASE isn’t just an eye condition — it’s also a skin and eyelid health issue. The skin around the eyes plays a crucial role in maintaining a stable tear film. When inflammation from acne or rosacea affects the eyelids, it can spread to the Meibomian glands, disrupting the natural oils that keep your eyes comfortable.
By improving skin health and reducing inflammation, IPL not only helps clear acne but also supports long-term eye comfort and gland health.
Healthy skin means healthier eyes.
Chalazion Treatment
Chalazions are firm, often painless lumps that form on the eyelid when oil glands become chronically blocked. While not always uncomfortable, they can cause redness, swelling, and cosmetic concern.
Our Lumenis OptiLight IPL treatments target the underlying inflammation and bacterial load that contribute to chalazion formation. IPL helps reduce redness in existing chalazions and prevent new ones by restoring healthy gland function and improving eyelid hygiene.
Routine maintenance treatments support clear, healthy eyelids and reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
Clear. Calm. Confident.
Stye Treatment
Styes are painful, red bumps that form when an eyelid gland becomes blocked or infected. While they often resolve on their own, they can be stubborn and uncomfortable.
Our Lumenis OptiLight IPL treatments help by reducing inflammation, clearing gland blockages, and speeding up healing for acute styes. Patients often notice less swelling, pain, and redness within days.
Regular IPL therapy can also help prevent recurrent styes by restoring healthy gland function and improving long-term eyelid health.
Soothe. Heal. Prevent.
Preventative Treatment
In today’s world, our eyes are under constant strain — from endless computer use, smartphones, air conditioning, and reduced time outdoors. These daily habits can silently damage the tiny oil glands in your eyelids, leading to Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) — the most common cause of DRY EYE DISEASE.
Even if you’re not yet experiencing symptoms, preventative IPL treatments can help keep your eyes healthy and comfortable. Regular sessions maintain optimal gland function, reduce inflammation before it builds up, and support clear, stable vision.
By investing in prevention, you’re protecting your long-term eye comfort, avoiding future flare-ups, and ensuring your eyes stay clear and bright — no matter how many hours you spend on screens.
Stay ahead of DRY EYE DISEASE — prevention is the most powerful treatment.
Managing Inflammation from Within
Many patients with DRY EYE DISEASE also experience underlying inflammatory or autoimmune conditions such as Sjögren’s, arthritis, or rosacea. These systemic issues can heighten inflammation throughout the body — including the eyes and eyelids.
At Dry Eye Solution, our in-house medical practitioners work alongside our optometrists to address these deeper inflammatory drivers.
Under medical supervision, prescription-only therapies may be considered to help regulate immune activity, reduce inflammation, and support long-term ocular comfort.
This integrated approach allows our team to tailor care to your individual health needs — helping you achieve calmer, clearer, and more comfortable eyes from the inside out.
Whole-body balance for long-term eye comfort.
Psychology & Psychotherapy Support
Living with DRY EYE DISEASE can take a toll — not just on your eyes, but on your overall wellbeing. Persistent discomfort, fatigue, and lifestyle changes can affect mood, focus, and emotional resilience.
At Dry Eye Solution, we recognise the powerful connection between eye health and mental health.
Our patients have access to in-house and telehealth psychology and psychotherapy services, designed to help manage stress, anxiety, and the emotional challenges that often accompany chronic conditions like Dry Eye.
Through gentle, supportive guidance, our psychologists help you develop tools to manage stress and restore balance — supporting both your mental clarity and your journey to eye comfort.
Heal the mind. Soothe the body. Restore your calm.
Dietitian Support
Nutrition is a cornerstone of lasting eye comfort and overall wellbeing. The foods we eat can directly influence tear quality, inflammation levels, and the body’s ability to heal and protect the eyes.
At Dry Eye Solution, our in-house dietitian — available in person or via telehealth — works collaboratively within our clinical team to design a personalised nutrition plan as part of your overall Dry Eye Solution care plan.
This ensures every aspect of your treatment supports not only your eyes but also your gut health, skin health, and whole-body balance.
Our approach is guided by The Toyos Dry Eye Diet — a comprehensive nutrition and lifestyle guide developed by Dr Rolando Toyos and published exclusively by Dry Eye Solution in Australia. This resource supports patients on their journey to wellness, helping them make sustainable dietary choices that complement their treatment and promote long-term eye health.
Nourish your body. Protect your eyes. Live with clarity.
Eyelid Hygiene & Biofilm Management
Maintaining healthy eyelids is essential for preventing Blepharitis, Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), and DRY EYE DISEASE. Over time, oil, bacteria, and dead skin can accumulate along the lash line, creating a biofilm that disrupts gland function and inflames delicate eyelid tissue.
At Dry Eye Solution, we take a targeted, science-led approach to eyelid health.
While some clinics use mechanical exfoliation devices to remove biofilm, emerging research — and clinical insights from Dr Rolando Toyos, the inventor of IPL for Dry Eye Disease — suggest these methods can sometimes aggravate the lids and increase inflammation, especially in already compromised eyes.
Pain Management
For some patients, DRY EYE DISEASE can go beyond surface discomfort — it can cause deep, persistent ocular pain that affects focus, mood, and quality of life.
At Dry Eye Solution, we understand that chronic eye pain is complex and multifactorial. That’s why we offer in-house pain management, led by a specialist in ocular and neuropathic pain.
Our collaborative approach brings together optometry, medicine, and advanced diagnostics to identify the underlying causes and provide targeted support for each individual.
Under medical supervision, our pain management specialist helps patients explore safe, evidence-based strategies to calm nerve hypersensitivity, reduce chronic inflammation, and improve daily comfort.
This integrated care model allows us to address pain both locally and systemically — helping patients reclaim comfort, focus, and confidence in everyday life.
Compassion meets science.
Relief begins here.
Menopause & Dry Eye
Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause can significantly affect eye comfort and tear stability. As oestrogen levels decline, the Meibomian glands — which produce the protective oils that keep tears from evaporating — often become less active. This can lead to dryness, irritation, light sensitivity, and fluctuating vision.
At Dry Eye Solution, we understand that menopause impacts more than hormones — it affects overall wellbeing. Our clinicians take a whole-body approach, combining advanced diagnostics, OptiLight IPL, nutritional care, and medical support to help rebalance the eyes and restore lasting comfort.
We have an in-house GP who collaborates closely with our optometrists, dietitian, and psychology team to ensure a truly integrated approach.
If you’re already under the care of your own GP or specialist, we’re happy to work alongside them to ensure seamless and coordinated support.
This holistic model allows us to address the underlying drivers of hormonal Dry Eye — from skin and gland health to inflammation and stress — helping women feel comfortable and confident at every stage of life.
Balanced hormones.
Balanced eyes.
A clearer, more comfortable you.
LLLT (Low-Level Light Therapy)
Low-Level Light Therapy (LLLT) uses light energy to stimulate cell activity, improve circulation, and reduce inflammation. It has shown potential in supporting Meibomian Gland health and reducing symptoms of DRY EYE DISEASE when delivered correctly.
Dr Rolando Toyos, the inventor of both IPL and LLLT for Dry Eye Disease, has spent years refining the precise parameters required for this therapy to work effectively. Unfortunately, the devices currently available in Australia do not meet the specific clinical settings or standards established by Dr Toyos, and none are currently TGA-approved for the treatment of Dry Eye Disease.
At Dry Eye Solution, we hold ourselves to the highest global standard. We will only offer LLLT when Dr Toyos’s next-generation Q Device — which is currently undergoing TGA approval — becomes available in Australia. This ensures our patients receive treatment that is truly proven, safe, and effective.
Until then, we prefer to protect our patients’ trust — and their results — rather than offer a version of therapy that isn’t validated by the science or the inventor himself.
When it comes to innovation, we lead by integrity.
Because world-class care means waiting for the real thing.
